Imbolc 2020

Imbolc 2020

Imbolc was conducted by Priestess Peridot

Yule brought celebration that the darkness wouldn’t last forever, but it was still dark.

Now we get our first taste of the sun. The beginning of the light half of the year, and the beginning of the wheel.

It brings so many possibilities, a fresh start. We’re rested by the slow winter, and our eager bodies are ready to get back into things.

This time of year is symbolized by the sowing of seed, and by the fresh milk brought by farm cattle. New strength is found as food stores that were running out are supplemented with fresh dairy. Now is the time to turn our resolutions into labors, and our dreams into active plans.

It is also traditional to spend this time honoring the Irish Goddess Brigid. And TGC has done so every Imbolc it’s done. A triple goddess, of fertility, of home and hearth, of poetry, smithing, healing, and war. She is Goddess of both flame and of holy wells. Brigid was a very busy Goddess, and Imbolc offers a lot to keep its observers busy.
